I first met Alun “Wally” Walton some 55 years ago when I used to practice with the Valleymen a group formed in The 60s in Risca and who used to practice in Wesleyan church hall, from then we went on to play together in The Third Degree, The Shapes of Things, The Midnight City Soul Band and finally Morning Coffee, we also played together when the Midnight City reformed in the Noughties.

Alun was a fine bass player and above all a gentleman. 

I can never remember, through all the years of playing together, having a cross word with Alun.

We spent quite a bit of time together around the Risca area and I even met my wife while on a wild weekend in Blackpool with a gang of us from the band staying in Alun’s sister’s  flat in Preston on the way up. 

The memories are far too many to list but safe to say Alun will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
